    What Is a Surety Bond?

A surety bond is a three-party agreement that provides a financial guarantee. Here's how the parties are involved:

    Principal

The person required to obtain the bond.

    Obligee

The court, government agency, organization, or other party requiring the bond.

    Surety

The company providing the financial guarantee.

Important: A surety bond is different from traditional insurance. The bond generally protects the party requiring the bond or other eligible claimants. If a surety pays a valid claim, the bonded individual may be responsible for reimbursing the surety according to the applicable bond and indemnity agreement.

If you received a court order, letter, licensing requirement, application, or other document specifying a bond, have it available when you contact TrueGuard. We can use the information provided by the party requiring the bond to help identify the appropriate bond.
